Devinder Grewal
LGS are delighted to announce that we have secured the services of Devinder Grewal IPS, PM, PPM (New Delhi), formerly Director General of Police to our advisory board and as our Security and Investigation Consultant in India. We have no doubt that his vast and varied experience in the field of Security and Investigation will aid us greatly in our exciting expansion plans in India. We warmly welcome Grewal to the Libertine family and look forward to his active and continued association.
Grewal has a distinguished career behind him and has excelled, particularly in organising anti terrorist and anti insurgency operations at trouble spots in India. After graduation, he joined the Indian Army as a Commissioned Officer. After about 5 years of service in the Army he joined the IPS. While in the Police Service he served important assignments which include District Superintendent Of Police, Commandant Manipur Raffles, Deputy Inspector General (Range), DIG(Operations, Armed Police and Training).
By virtue of his vast experience on security matters, Grewal was entrusted with the responsibility of organising security of vital installations for Door Darshan (T.V) and All India Radio, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. During this period, he had valuable exposure on organising security of vital installations which were under threat of attack by many insurgent groups operating in India. In appreciation of his good work, he was awarded the Police Medal of merit in 1984.
He was promoted as Inspector General of Police which lead to Grewal holding many high level appointments such as Managing Director Police Housing Corporation, Commissioner Excise & Taxation and IG prisons, and thus gaining invaluable and varied experience of the Indian Governmental ethos and environment.
He has also served in the Border Security Force(BSF), operating on the Indo- Pakistan border on anti -insurgency duties.
For around 3 Years he was on deputation Service in the Bureau of Police Research and Development and did a valuable work in the field of Police Training, Research & Development. In recognition of his achievements he was conferred with President’s Police Medal for distinguished Service, which is the highest peace time medal of Police Service in India to be ever awarded to a Police Officer.
He was promoted and appointed as State Director General of Police in Jan 1996 and held this prestigious rank till he retired in May 2002.
After retirement he is settled in Delhi and has been taking an active part in various Social Welfare activities as well as acting as a Security Advisor and Consultant to security companies
